The Commission TIC.cat began debate on the Strategic Plan for Telecommunications and Information Society 2010-2014
The Strategic Plan should be the instrument for managing the Generalitat of Catalonia, the most efficient way possible, their skills and resources to promote social and economic development of Catalonia by the opportunities offered by ICT, while mobilizes other government and private sector.
The proposal of ICT policies in Catalonia over the next four years are divided into three strategic areas that impact on the explicit needs and interests of the country, citizens and business.
- Structures of SI: The first axis search the consolidation of the foundations for the development of information society in Catalonia, considering both the e-infrastructure and the social, cultural and political help that might be placed on value by people.
- Competitiveness: The second axis, centered on the company seeks the promotion of the Catalan economy using the tools of the information society, while supporting the consolidation of Catalan ICT sector as the basis of a model based on productivity and economic value creation
- Welfare: The third line, centered on the individual leads towards the plan’s contribution to the welfare state and quality of life of citizens using the services of the information society.
The Strategic Plan was presented to the Commission TIC.cat, comprising over 60 organizations representing Catalan ICT sector, to know the opinion of major public and private institutions to collaborate in implementing the policy set and, in turn, that has opened a period of discussion to get input and feedback from all members of the comissióTIC.cat in relation to the document.
During the session which was attended by Director General of the Information Society, Joshua Sallent, also announced the addition of the Subcommittee Optixcat TIC.cat of business entities, and chapter Catalan of itSMF international entity TIC.cat the Subcommittee of Professional Associations.
Finally, Mr.. Ramon Salvador, COETTC manager, proposed to the Plenary of the ComissióTIC.cat launching an initiative to support Project Open Network by writing a manifesto in defense of the project in which civil society, schools professionals, employers, universities and companies in the ICT sector expressed their support for the Open Network project at once demanded his immediate execution by public managers.
