A summer vacation home is a great place to leave, but most people can not afford to stay in their homes throughout the holiday travel season. When the house is empty, it is simply costing you money on mortgage payments, maintenance and other expenses. One way to offset some of these costs is to rent it when your not there. These days, a large percentage of holiday homes are rented, and owners can enjoy thousands of dollars of revenue from homes that would otherwise be empty. There are a lot of competition out there for renters, however, so you need to know how to play the game to keep your summer vacation home rental.

4. Craft a description of the stand-out property for your listing that highlights everything you love about your vacation home. Include any relevant piece of information you might think possible so renters feel like they really know what they can expect from your home.

5. Take advantage of tools such as listing available calendars, customer testimonials and hit counters. These tools make it easier for renters to navigate and provide information they want and need.

6. Special Offer competitive season off to keep busy during your vacation rental all year round. Use large images, if this is a percentage or a fixed dollar amount, when your special advertising. In this way, potential renters will think they are getting a better deal.

List your home on multiple vacation home listing sites. No one dominates the market place, in order to get your home viewed by most of the eyes, you should diversify.

Keep your list updated regularly, especially if you use a calendar available.

Pricing your home just below the others on the market can help you keep your rent, because renters will feel like they are getting a deal.
